New this season! We’re excited to announce a patron program! If you want to support choral music but don’t have a business to advertise in our program, you can now become a patron. There are three patron levels, mezzo forte, forte, and fortissimo at $25, $50, and $100 respectively.

If you want to become a patron, just message us or donate directly via Venmo. (Just add the name you’d like as a patron – or in memory of – on the comments of your Venmo payment.) If you donate by Thanksgiving (2023), we’ll include your name in our concert program! Donations received after Thanksgiving will go into our spring concert program.

Winter Choral Concert December 9th!

New Renaissance Singers is excited to announce their 2023 winter choral concert, which will take place on Saturday, December 9th at 7:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor at 120 Park Street. The group has moved their concert time by a half an hour to allow ample time for attendees to find parking and make their way to the concert venue. 

As audiences have come to expect, NRS will be offering an eclectic and varied program featuring sacred and secular works from the Renaissance to contemporary composers of today. There is sure to be something for everyone! 

This season’s repertoire seeks to usher in a bit of light and joy to the darkness. Focus pieces include; For this Joy, a secular text set to the well-loved hymn Lobe den Herren, Sing Gently, a beautiful piece by Eric Whitacre that speaks to the joy and honor of singing together, The Work of Christmas by Dan Forrest, and a contemporary arrangement of the Southern folk tune, Brightest and Best. 

Other pieces include beautiful settings of Tallis’ Canon and In the Bleak Midwinter, O Magnum Mysterium, and  a stunning arrangement of O Come Emmanuel. 

We look forward to seeing you and sharing our music with you! Remember to give yourself plenty of time to park. Admission is a suggestion donation of $10 at the door. Thank you! 

New Singers Welcome to Join NRS!

On Thursday, September 14th and 21st, New Renaissance Singers will kick-off their winter season by opening up their rehearsals to any new singers who are interested in being a part of an amazing choral community! Rehearsals are held weekly at The Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor, 120 Park Street from 6:45pm – 8:15pm. 

Founded in 1992, NRS is a non-auditioned community choir that performs an eclectic repertoire from Madrigals to Mainstream music of today. All who share a love of singing are most welcome to come to our rehearsal and see what being a part of NRS is all about! 

Under the direction of Molly J. Webster and Collaborative Pianist, Terrence Henry, NRS has an exciting season planned! As always, the program will present a mix of works from various time periods and genres and will include everything from Praetorius to Whitacre, featuring songs of love, community, and well-loved holiday favorites. There’s sure to be something for everyone! 

In addition to our large winter and spring concerts, NRS also performs throughout our community and beyond, sharing our love of singing with our audiences and making new friends along the way.

Between Earth and Sky: Our Spring Choral Concert

Our Spring Concert: Between Earth and Sky!

In keeping with tradition, our program will feature works from many time periods and genres; from Thomas Morley to Clara Schumann to Huddie Ledbetter to Billy Joel, and beyond. The repertoire revolves around themes of love, beauty, and the joy and solace that can be found Between Earth and Sky! There is sure to be something for everyone!

Several of the pieces the group is preparing were slated for our spring 2020 concert, so we are thrilled we’re finally able to share them with our wonderful audience!

Join us after the concert for a plant sale!

We’ll have a collection of house and garden plants grown by our members, along with some locally crafted pottery available by donation. Round out your spring gardens, bring a little greenery to your home, or just help a great cause – music!

Spring 2023 Rehearsal Season Begins January 19th

If you’ve been thinking you’d love to sing with us, here’s your chance! Our first 2-3 rehearsals are “open rehearsals” meaning anyone who thinks they’d like to see what it’s like and dust off your vocal cords if it’s been a while. This season, we’re still requiring everyone who joins us to have all CDC recommended COVID boosters, and masks are required.
